The city’s oldest social center, Progetto Conciatori, was evacuated early this morning by the Italian police, following Mayor Renzi’s orders. Progetto Conciatori was the only social center remaining in the tourist-ridden Florentine city center. Our friends and comrades of Conciatori had hosted there our last year’s event, “Oltre la crisi”. As Alice Ma wrote, “every time a social space is evacuated, the city becomes sadder, colder, emptier…”.
We, as Collettivo Prezzemolo, express our anger for the evacuation, and our warmest solidarity to the people and collectives which supported and kept alive the via dei Conciattori squat for a whole 32 years – and especially during this last, difficult period.
